German measles or Rubella

Rubella, also known as German measles, is a viral infection that can cause a red rash, joint pain, and other symptoms. While it's usually mild in children, it can cause serious birth defects to the yet to be born in pregnant women. Rubella is not the same as measles, but the two illnesses share some signs and symptoms. It is transmitted through contact with the saliva or mucus of an infected person - discharged while sneezing or coughing - and can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left the area. Symptoms and signs

• A thin, pink rash that starts on the face and swiftly moves to the trunk, arms, and legs before going away in the same sequence
• Joint pain, particularly in young women
